California Is a Large and Varied State
Los Angeles, San Francisco, San Diego, Sacramento, and San Jose are all major California destinations with very different housing markets, access conditions, and neighborhood characteristics. We already have dedicated pages for Los Angeles and San Francisco moves. If your destination is San Diego, Sacramento, or another California city, the delivery logistics are confirmed for your specific address during booking.
California Moving Regulations
Interstate moves into California must comply with FMCSA regulations, which Movers USA meets. If any portion of your move involves local storage or local delivery within California, additional state-level requirements may apply. Your consultant addresses these during the booking process.
Cross-Country Inventory Decisions
The cost of a cross-country shipment is directly tied to weight. Shipping furniture and belongings 2,700 miles costs significantly more than a regional move. An honest inventory review before packing begins, with your California destination in mind, is the most effective way to control cost. Items that would need to be replaced anyway in California are worth leaving behind.
Full Packing for Cross-Country Transit
A Maryland to California shipment goes through more handling, more climate variation, and more transit time than any regional move. Full packing by our crew ensures items are protected throughout and that cargo insurance applies to the entire shipment. Items packed by the customer are not covered by our cargo insurance.
Valuation Coverage
For high-value collections, fine art, antiques, and specialty items from Maryland homes, full value protection coverage is worth the additional cost on a cross-country move. Released value protection limits liability to 60 cents per pound per item, which is not adequate for most high-value pieces.
