Movers in Maryland

Maryland packs a lot of different moving conditions into a small state. A morning job can start in a Bethesda condo tower with a reserved freight elevator and end at a split-level in Laurel with a steep driveway and no curb space. Movers USA runs crews out of three Maryland offices, so the people quoting your move already know the counties, the commute patterns, and the building rules that shape moving day where you live.

Three Maryland Offices

Jessup

Our Jessup office on Preston Court is the dispatch and warehouse base. It sits between Baltimore and the Montgomery County line, which keeps drive time short for Howard County, the Route 1 corridor, and most of Anne Arundel County. Storage for local and long-distance customers is handled from here.

Severn

The Severn office on Crossbay Drive covers Anne Arundel County, including Odenton, Glen Burnie, and the neighborhoods around Fort Meade. Many of the moves out of this office follow military and federal schedules, so short-notice dates and orders paperwork are routine.

Bethesda

The Bethesda office on Elgin Lane handles Bethesda and the rest of Montgomery County. Most jobs here involve condo buildings, HOA communities, or older single-family homes with narrow streets, which means elevator bookings and certificates of insurance are part of nearly every estimate.

Find your county below to see the cities we cover and what tends to come up on moves there.

Montgomery County

Bethesda, Rockville, Gaithersburg, Potomac, Chevy Chase, and Silver Spring.

Montgomery County moves split into two kinds. Downtown Bethesda, Rockville Town Center, and downtown Silver Spring are dense with high-rise and mid-rise buildings that require reserved loading docks, padded elevators, and a certificate of insurance before the truck arrives. Potomac, Chevy Chase, and the established parts of Gaithersburg lean toward large single-family homes with long carries, finished basements, and furniture that often needs crating. We plan crew size and truck count around those differences rather than treating the county as one market.

Howard County

Columbia, Jessup, and Laurel.

Columbia’s villages each have their own architectural committees, and some townhome rows have shared parking courts where a full-size truck cannot turn around. Jessup and the Route 1 corridor mix newer townhome communities with warehouse and light industrial space, so we see a steady share of small business moves alongside residential ones. Laurel sits across the Howard and Prince George’s line, and we schedule it from Jessup either way.

Anne Arundel County

Severn, Odenton, and Annapolis.

Severn and Odenton move on the calendar of Fort Meade and the agencies around it. Summer is the heaviest season, and orders can arrive with little warning. Annapolis is a different job entirely: the historic district has narrow brick streets, limited parking, and homes where stairways were built long before modern sofas existed. Those moves usually need a smaller shuttle truck and a crew that is comfortable with tight turns and hoisting.

Prince George's County

Bowie, Cheverly, and Landover.

Bowie has large subdivisions with HOA move-in rules and homes in the four and five bedroom range, so full-day moves with two trucks are common. Cheverly’s post-war houses have original hardwood, narrow interior doorways, and compact lots. Landover combines apartment complexes, townhomes, and commercial space near the Route 50 and Beltway interchanges.

Baltimore

Baltimore City.

Row houses define most Baltimore moves. Steep front steps, narrow staircases, and furniture that has to come out through a window are all regular parts of the job. Street parking rules vary by neighborhood, and many blocks need the curb reserved ahead of time. We schedule Baltimore moves from Jessup, which is close enough to reach most neighborhoods within half an hour.

What Shapes a Maryland Move

Condo and HOA Requirements

Many Maryland buildings and communities set move hours, require a certificate of insurance naming the association, and limit truck size or parking location. We collect those rules during the estimate and send the paperwork to your building manager before moving day.

Military and Federal Schedules

Fort Meade, the agencies along the Baltimore-Washington corridor, and Naval Support Activity Bethesda all generate moves with fixed report dates. We work from your orders and can split a move between storage and delivery when housing dates do not line up.

Older Homes and Historic Districts

Annapolis, Baltimore, Cheverly, and parts of Chevy Chase have homes with original floors, plaster walls, and tight stairwells. Crews arrive with floor runners, door jamb protection, and the tools to take apart furniture that will not make the turn.

Moving Between Counties

A move from Rockville to Annapolis or from Columbia to Bethesda crosses traffic patterns that change by the hour. We set start times to avoid the worst of the Beltway and Route 50 congestion, and your written estimate lists any travel time before you book.

Moving Services Across Maryland

Local Moves

Moves within Maryland are priced by the hour, based on crew size and the access conditions at both homes. Furniture disassembly, reassembly, and floor protection are part of every local move.

Long-Distance Moves

For moves out of state, we price from a full inventory and provide a written binding estimate. Delivery windows are confirmed before the truck leaves Maryland.

Commercial Moves

Office and business moves are scheduled after hours or over weekends when needed, with labeled floor plans, IT equipment handling, and coordination with building management.

Packing and Storage

Crews can pack a full home or only the fragile items. Short-term, long-term, and in-transit storage is available at our Jessup warehouse, with an itemized inventory for everything that goes in.

Specialty Items

Pianos, antiques, fine art, and safes are handled with custom crating, padding, and equipment matched to the item.

The office closest to your starting address usually handles the move. Bethesda covers Montgomery County, Severn covers Anne Arundel County, and Jessup covers Howard County, Baltimore, and Prince George's County. Larger moves can draw crews and trucks from more than one office.

Any travel time charge is listed on your written estimate before you book, so there are no surprises on the final bill.

May through September is the busiest stretch, especially the last and first days of each month and the weeks around military rotations. Booking four to six weeks ahead gives you the most choice of dates during those months.

Most in-state moves, including county to county moves, are completed in one day. Large homes or moves with heavy packing may be spread across two days, and we will tell you that during the estimate.
