Two mega stores, 30 trucks and nearly 20,000 boxes adds up to one wild Super Bowl weekend for Movers USA, which completes grocery store challenge in fine form.
If you thought the New York Giants and the New England Patriots worked hard last weekend, check out Movers USA.
One of the oldest and most respected relocation specialists in the Maryland/Virginia/DC area, Movers USA completed a record-breaking move between Feb. 3 and Feb. 6, packing up the Fresh & Green’s supermarket on Harford Road – along with the contents of a second Fresh & Green’s mega store in Hampden – and moving the goods to four different locations in greater Baltimore. According to a press statement issued today by Movers USA, the time-sensitive project involved 30 trucks, dozens of extra workers and over 15,000 boxes of nonperishable items, all records for the veteran moving company.
“It was an amazing experience and Movers USA is proud to be a part of such a successfully performed operation,” said Movers USA Founder and President Gil BenShoushan, who also chairs the Maryland Movers Conference at the Maryland Motor Truck Association. “I’d personally like to thank each and every person who took part in this move. We could never do it without the dedication of our employees, as well as Fresh & Green’s employees.”
In addition to the Parkville Fresh & Green’s, the Mrs. Green’s Management Corp. sold its Hampden Fresh & Green’s mega store to grocery kingpin Giant Foods, which plans to convert both locations to Giant supermarkets. Both stores will be closed for renovations during the conversion process, according to Giant Foods, and no date has been set for their reopening.
When the sale was announced Feb. 3, Movers USA jumped into action. All told, the two stores – totaling over 80,000 square feet – contained enough goods to fill over 15,000 individual boxes.
“This operation was planned very carefully by the Movers USA Commercial Division,” BenShoushan noted. “When Giant announced the sale Friday afternoon and we got the green light to start the move, we didn’t waste any time.”
With precise coordination between store managers and Movers USA’s small army of movers, packers and drivers, the venerable moving company was able to honor the Mrs. Green Management Corp.’s wishes and complete the goods-relocation effort in just three days.
“All of the teams worked in sync to complete the move on time,” the Movers USA president said. “I am very proud of our employees and grateful to the Mrs. Green Management Corp. for their trust and cooperation during this delicate operation.”
“We’re sorry to see Fresh & Green’s go,” noted Daniel Dean, a Parkville resident who shopped regularly at the Harford Road market, “Their selection of prepared meals and natural foods was really special. It will be interesting to see what Giant has in store for this market.”
While he’s sad to see Fresh & Green’s close its doors, Dean marveled at the efficiency with which Movers USA was able to empty the market’s many aisles.
“There were dozens, maybe hundreds of workers in red ‘Movers USA’ shirts on the site, working from Friday straight through Monday,” Dean said. “They must have moved 10,000 boxes onto those trucks, and when they were done, there was not a scrap of loose paper left in the parking lot. It was a really professional job.”
“We pride ourselves on being professionals, always have and always will,” BenShoushan said. “When a client like Mrs. Green’s Management Corp. has a massive project that requires an expert touch, they know who to call. They know Movers USA will be able to handle the work, and handle it well.”
